Lucy on the red carpet

An exclusive interview from the Academy Awards...

Interviewer: We are here with Lucy Lollini live on the red carpet...so Lucy how is your first Academy Awards so far?

Lucy: Obviously, I was nervous they might not happen due to the writer's strike...

Interviewer: Speaking of the writer's strike, any truth to the rumor you were late making your appearance into the world as a show of solidarity for the writer's?

Lucy: As you may be aware, I am a huge fan of the writers, but I came into this world on my own terms. You know, some of us just need a little extra time preparing for the paparazzi!

Interviewer: Can I ask what you're wearing tonight?

Lucy: Absolutely...this is vintage Disney from their Classic Pooh collection. I had to buy off the rack.

Interviewer: Have you been able to hob-knob with any stars?

Lucy: Certainly, that George Clooney is just as delicious in person...and that girl from Juno was extra friendly to me. I think all those months playing a pregnant lady and then not really having a baby took it's toll on her. And what's with all the kissing in this town? Doesn't anyone hug anymore?

Interviewer: Anything else you want to add?

Lucy: Well, even though I am not nominated this year, I'd like to thank all my fans for their love and support! And in the words of Sally Field, "You like me...you really like me!"

Happy Valentine's Day!

My mom told me I had to send this Valentine's wish to you all. Then she mumbled about how she had to send Valentines to everyone in her class even the ones she didn't like or picked their nose or smelled funny. Not sure what that was all about...sounds like some unresolved issues!
Anyway, I am a month old today! Last night we talked about how I came into the world and as I look back (I really don't remember) I am amazed how much has changed for me in this past month. I am definitely learning the difference between day and night and now I understand why my mom doesn't really talk or sing to me when it's dark outside.
I have also started to take baths (which I don't really mind although the first time I have to admit I was a bit alarmed by it.) My social life has definitely gotten better as we venture out not just to see the doctor but now to meet friends as well. Seems we know a bunch of people cuz we even meet them at the store sometimes.
For those of you I haven't met, I am very much looking forward to the day when we finally get that chance!
Peace out,
Lucy

Uncle Ray meets Lucy G

She may have been casually late making her entrance but the extra brewing time paid off because this is one cute kid. Her pictures haven't done her justice and when you throw her personality into the equation it only enhances this little angel.
Her Grandparents are taking a once in a life time trip to Kiwiland but I got to go to Lucyland.
Even with diaper changing I got the better end of the deal. They may be overseas but I'm sure little Lucy G is still the main topic of conversation.
I only have a couple of days left to figure how to smuggle this little stinker back to Chicago without her mother noticing. Any and all ideas are welcome.

Blessed be...

Sometime last night, or should I say very early this morning, as I was snuggling into bed after a feeding, it dawned on me how absolutely blessed I have been. I can go back and chronicle all the things from since I was a kid, but no one has that kinda time, especially a new mom!
First and foremost, I have been incredibly blessed with this sweet girl you see above. People have been passing around the word perfect (which I have never used much in regular life simply cuz I'm a realist and perfect doesn't ring true very often), but in this case, who's to argue? She is perfect!
Secondly, I am super fortunate to have this kind of support system surroundung Lucy and myself. From the first days of my talking about having a baby, til that first night in the hospital, Grandma and Papa doing a wonderful job of hiding just how scared they were for my not yet born baby and Joan spending the night so Lucy could stay in the room with me, til now receiving well-wishes and kind thoughts and words of encouragement, to gifts which randomly show up on my doorstep. Until you are in a place like this, you can not know what joy and happiness is truly.
I know I keep saying thank you to you all and if I could come up with a better way to show my gratitude or find different words, I would...I could list you all separately, but that seems too Academy Award-ish and the music would be playing to rush me off stage before I was even a quarter of the way through. I keep thinking of something my mom said as we were patiently waiting for Lucy to arrive. She said, "Do you realize how many people out there are thinking about you...some you have never even met." And then I understood how the ripple effect works when you choose to surround yourself with such spectacular people.
